International training on "Local Government and Civil Society's Role in Local Sustainable Development", September 18 to October 12, 2011
The international training on "Local Government and Civil Society's Role in Local Sustainable Development" was conducted by the Weitz Center for Development Studies with collaboration of the Heschel Center for Environmental learning and leadership, between September 18th – October 12th, 2011.
In this very exciting course, 30 participants from 20 countries around the world (including Tanzania, Rwanda, Zambia, Philippines, Thailand, China, Russia, Ukraine and Serbia to name a few), examined the role of local government and civil society in sustainable development through a diverse curriculum of lectures, seminars, field visits and group exercise.
The participants have learnt from the experience of practitioners from leading civil society organizations and various local authorities in Israel, as well as from sharing the experience of the process of sustainable development in each other's countries. They have created joint projects which will stand as a basis for their future work back in their home countries and institutions.
During the international training on "local government and civil society's role in sustainable local development, in September 2011, our participants had the opportunity to write articles on the training's topic. We share here some of their productions.
