Kwalitex Art and Craft Cooperative
Mr. Victor Adigler, from Ghana, is a graduate of the Weitz Center. He attended a training on Local Economic Development in 1998. After his studies in Israel he established a charitable community based organization and a cooperative (C.5 Foundation, Helper Aid Foundation and Kwalitex Art and Craft Co-operative). The aim among others is to reduce unemployment and support livelihood.

6th Raanan Weitz Integrated Development Projects Competition
The Professional Committee of the Raanan Weitz Competition 2011 has recommended the Weitz Center to select Elmer V. Sayre and Jed Christian Z. Sayre from the WAND Foundation in the Philippines, with their project on: "Using the Rehovot Approach to close the Loop between Sanitation, food security and biodiversity improvement as a means to alleviate extreme poverty: The WAND foundation experience" for First Place.

Seminar on "Tools for Local Economic Development" for Mayors from Latin America, from 24 August to 7 September 2011
Given the large number of candidates, and their high professional level, for the training on "Promotion of Local Economic Development through Strategic Planning", the Weitz Center, MASHAV and UN-Habitat decided to organize a parallel seminar for Mayors from Latin America on "Tools for Local Economic Development" for Mayors from Latin America. From 24 August to 7 September 2011, 10 mayors from Colombia, El Salvador and Peru participated in the seminar.

Expert Group Meeting organized by UN-Habitat training and capacity-building branch, March 2011
Following a long-term collaboration with UN-Habitat, the Weitz Center for Development Studies was invited to take part of the first Expert Group Meeting organized by UN-Habitat, the Danida Fellowship Center and the Institute for Housing and Urban Development Studies in the Netherlands. Yossi Offer, from the Weitz Center, presented an Israeli based experience of assistance for local authorities, including capacity-building, organization development and strategic management.

"Tools for Promotion of Local Economic Development." 3–15.10.2011
Given the large number of applicants for the International Course on "Promotion of Local Economic Development through Strategic Planning", and their high level of professionalism, the Weitz Center, MASHAV and UN‐HABITAT decided to implement a parallel Executive Seminar for senior professionals on the topic of "Tools for Promotion of Local Economic Development." From 3 October to 15 October, sixteen professionals from Latin America and Equatorial Guinea participated in this seminar.

This course is conducted within the framework of MASHAV, in cooperation with UN‐HABITAT ROLAC.

On 14 September, a delegation from China, Jiangxi Province, visited the Weitz Center. The Weitz Center, in collaboration with the IUTC, UN‐HABITAT and the Gan Woon Province, organized a seminar on Sustainable Urban Management in Korea, from 21 August to 28 August. Gathering students from Asia and Pacific countries, the seminar was led by the Director of IUTC in Korea, Professor Kwi Gon Kim, and Yoel Siegel and Yossi Offer from the Weitz Center.
