International training on "Leveraging urban nature and biodiversity into local development", 28.11 to 22.12.2011

The international training on "Leveraging urban nature and biodiversity into local development", conducted from 28.11 to 22.12.2011 in the framework of MASHAV came to an end.

We had the pleasure to host 28 participants coming from 15 different countries: Buthan, Cameroon, Ethiopia, India, Kenya, Kosovo, Mexico, Nigeria, Paraguay, the Philippines, Russia, Rwanda, Tanzania, Thailand and Uganda.

The training achieved its objectives, notably through exposing the participants to the Israeli experience on integrating nature and biodiversity into urban planning; the role of Government, of local authorities and of Civil Society for policy and program making; channeling urban nature and biodiversity for employment creation; and urban nature and biodiversity as a leverage for local development.

Participants benefited from high-levels experts and consultants from Israel and from experience sharing.

Field visits were conducted in Ashdod Municipality, Rehovot Municipality, the Yarkon River Authority and the Jerusalem LAB (Local Action for Biodiversity) among others.
